Lone Peak via Bells Canyon

One of the hardest day hikes in the Wasatch — ~14 miles round trip and ~5,900 ft of gain from a Bells Canyon trailhead to the 11,260-ft summit of Lone Peak. Most parties do it as an overnight, camping at the Upper Reservoir at the foot of the Lone Peak Cirque, then summiting the following morning via the Class 3 south-side scramble. A pure-alpine day-hike traverse is possible for very fit parties in summer, but budget 12+ hours and an early start.
