Privacy Policy

How Desert Maritime collects, uses, and protects your information.

Effective Date: November 18, 2025

Desert Maritime (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit https://desertmaritime.com (the “Site”).

By using the Site, you consent to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Voluntarily

The only personal information you can give us through this Site is:

  • Email address

That is collected when you submit one of the Site's email forms — the newsletter signup, the contact form, or a request for a printable field card. The forms ask for nothing else: there is no name field, no message field, and no account to create.

The Site does not sell products directly, does not process payments, and has no comment system, so we collect no billing information and no user-submitted posts.

B. Automatically Collected Information

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and similar technologies to collect:

  • IP address (anonymized where applicable)
  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • Geographic region
  • Pages viewed
  • Time spent on pages
  • Referral sources
  • Click behavior

This information helps us understand how users interact with the Site and improve content.

2. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to:

  • Analyze traffic and user behavior
  • Improve user experience
  • Track affiliate link performance
  • Measure marketing campaign effectiveness

You may disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may affect site functionality.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Send newsletters and email updates
  • Deliver printable field cards and other downloads you request
  • Improve content and user experience
  • Respond to inquiries
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or remarketing.

4. Email Communications

If you subscribe to our email list:

  • You may receive newsletters, updates, and promotional content.
  • You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of emails.
  • We comply with the CAN-SPAM Act.

Email submissions are collected and stored by Netlify Forms, the form service built into our hosting provider. We do not currently use a separate email marketing platform; if that changes, this policy will be updated to name it before any address is transferred.

5. Affiliate Links

Some links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click and make a purchase, we may earn a commission.

Affiliate partners may use cookies to track referrals.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party retailers.

6. Third-Party Services

We use these third-party services:

  • Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) — site analytics
  • Netlify — hosting, content delivery, and form submissions
  • Affiliate networks and retailers — only when you follow an affiliate link (see section 5)

We do not currently use a payment processor or an email marketing platform, because the Site sells nothing directly and sends nothing through a separate email service.

These providers may collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to:

  • Provide services
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes
  • Enforce agreements

8. Your Privacy Rights (U.S.)

Several U.S. states now have comprehensive consumer privacy laws — including California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. If you live in one of them, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it
  • Request a copy of it
  • Request that we delete it
  • Correct it, where your state provides that right
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information

The specific rights, and the deadlines for answering them, vary by state.

Two things are worth stating plainly: we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of; and the only personal information we hold is an email address you chose to give us, which you can have deleted at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at: hello@desertmaritime.com

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information.

However, no internet transmission is 100% secure.

10. Children’s Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes become effective upon posting.
