Southern Utah Museum of Art
Free contemporary art museum on the SUU campus in Cedar City — the cultural anchor of southwest Utah's national park gateway.
Also known as: SUMA, SUMA at SUU, SUU Art Museum
The Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA) sits on the Southern Utah University campus in Cedar City — a Brooks + Scarpa-designed building of folded planes and weathering steel that itself acts as a piece of public sculpture against the red cliffs of the Hurricane Cliffs to the south. Free admission. The collection rotates exhibits from SUU students, local and regional Utah artists, and nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists. SUMA serves as the cultural anchor of southwest Utah's gateway country — Cedar City sits at the junction for Bryce, Zion, Cedar Breaks, and the Kolob Canyons, and SUMA is a natural pre- or post-trip stop for travelers who want art and air conditioning between hikes.
