Utah's official fine-art museum on the University of Utah campus — 20,000 objects spanning 5,000 years, including significant Native American and Colorado Plateau collections.

The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is the official fine-art museum of the state, housed on the University of Utah campus in the Marcia and John Price Museum Building. The collection holds over 20,000 objects spanning 5,000 years of art — Egyptian and Mediterranean antiquities, European painting, American art, African and Pacific Island collections, and one of the largest holdings of Asian art in the Mountain West. The Native American galleries hold significant Diné (Navajo), Hopi, and Pueblo collections relevant to the cultural geography of the Colorado Plateau. Free admission on the first Wednesday and third Saturday of each month, and free year-round to active-duty military through the Blue Star Museums program.

Closed Mondays. Late hours Wednesdays until 8 PM.

Admission

Free admission on the first Wednesday and third Saturday of each month (Salt Lake County ZAP funded). Free year-round to U of U students with U Card and to active-duty military and families (up to 6) through Blue Star Museums. Confirm regular admission pricing on the museum's website.

  • European Art — Renaissance through 19th-century European painting and sculpture.
  • American Art — Colonial through contemporary American painting, sculpture, and decorative arts.
  • Asian Art — One of the largest Asian art collections in the Mountain West — Chinese, Japanese, Korean, South and Southeast Asian works.
  • Native American Art — Diné (Navajo), Hopi, Pueblo, Plains, and Northwest Coast collections — pottery, textiles, jewelry, basketry, and contemporary work.
  • African Art — West and Central African sculpture, masks, and textiles.
  • Egyptian and Mediterranean Antiquities — Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Near Eastern objects spanning 5,000 years.
