Echo Park–Whirlpool Boundary

Echo Park–Whirlpool Boundary is a river access point on the Green River, serving the Echo Park section.

The downstream end of Echo Park and the head of Whirlpool Canyon, at river mile 222.5. This is a canyon boundary, not an access point: there is no road, no ramp, and no way on or off the river here. It is listed because it is where the open park ends and the canyon closes back in — 2.5 miles below the Yampa confluence — and because it is the transition boaters use to mark the end of the Echo Park stretch. Below it the walls rise into the Uinta Mountain Group and the river sets into the strong eddies and steep, narrow walls that give Whirlpool its name.
