Valentine's Camp

A designated Stillwater Canyon camp on a broad cottonwood bottom — quiet Green River flatwater with White Rim Sandstone views and Canyonlands solitude.

Also known as: Valentine Bottom Camp

Valentine's Camp sits on a broad, grassy bottom on river left in Stillwater Canyon, the calm flatwater section of the Green River as it passes through Canyonlands National Park. Stillwater is true to its name — the river barely moves through this stretch, and the canyon is wide, open, and defined by the White Rim Sandstone and Organ Rock Shale layers that create broad benches and red-brown walls above the river. Valentine's Camp is one of the designated campsites in the Stillwater system, featuring a large flat area with scattered cottonwoods and good river access. The pace of Stillwater Canyon is fundamentally different from the rapids upstream or the whitewater of Cataract Canyon below — this is paddling country, canoe country, and the camps reflect that quieter character. From Valentine's the views extend across the river to the White Rim cliffs and up-canyon toward the mesa tops of the Island in the Sky district.
