Overlook Hike · Stillwater Canyon
Zigzag Overlook
A steep zig-zag climb of roughly a thousand feet to an overlook above the Confluence of the Green and Colorado.
Also known as: Confluence Overlook (Stillwater side)
A short, steep side-canyon objective at the lower end of Stillwater Canyon: a zig-zag trail switchbacks roughly a thousand feet up the canyon wall to an overlook poised just above the Confluence of the Green and the Colorado. The payoff is the long view down into the joined rivers and the Canyonlands rim country beyond — one of the few places on this stretch where you trade the canyon floor for the plateau in a single climb. It is a hard, sustained ascent on a narrow grade, not a stroll; budget the heat and carry water, because there is none on the route.
