Marble Canyon Rapid at mile 8.9 delivers a fun wave train down the right side and marks the entry into the deep gorge. The last read-and-run rapid before the core sequence of Staircase, Big Hummer, Funnel Falls, Surprise, Skull, Bowling Alley, Sock-It-To-Me, and Last Chance all pack into the following ~2.4 miles.
