Jack Creek Hike
An exploratory hike into the Jack Creek drainage — a shaded side canyon in the upper third of Desolation.
The Jack Creek Hike is an exploratory route into the Jack Creek drainage at mile 25.3, near the upper third of Desolation Canyon. The hike follows the creek drainage up from the Green River, climbing through the lower canyon walls into the Roan Cliffs stratigraphy above. The drainage is narrow and shaded in its lower section, with the canyon walls rising quickly above. The route is open-ended — distance is limited by terrain and time. It serves as a first introduction to the side canyon character of Desolation for groups floating the full corridor.
