Winnies Rapid
Winnies Rapid is the first named drop in the Canyon of Lodore, 3.5 miles below the Lodore Ranger Station put-in and a mile and a half past the Gates themselves. It is the rapid that tells a crew what kind of day it is going to be — the point where the flatwater approach ends and the canyon begins asking questions. Upper Disaster Falls waits another three miles downstream. Difficulty, hydraulics and run beta are deliberately unauthored here pending a sourced description; this record exists so the rapid holds its correct position in the Lodore corridor.
